I have just received two great books which are only tenuously related to Disney but that I am convinced many of you will enjoy:

Krazy: George Herriman, a Life in Black and White by Michael Tisserand and The Art and Inventions of Max Fleischer: American Animation Pioneer by Ray Pointer.

Didier: Has Herriman's biographer uncovered any new material connecting Krazy Kat to Disney? We know about the letter Walt to Herriman's daughter in 1944 after her father's death. And the desert landscape with the teetering boulders from the comic strip inspired the background of "The Gallopin' Gaucho" and parts of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad sector of Frontierland. But has Tisserand come up with anything else that's new?

Being the aficionado of fairy tales (Brothers Grimm in particular) and classic illustrations recently, my original goal was to connect it with Disney. Now it has cleansed me to be less Disney-centric along with other interests that have connections with Disney, like Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, Felix the Cat and Arthur Rackham illustrations
